Bar Code Symbologies
There are quite a few different types of Bar Code, or Symbologies. Different symbologies display Bar Code information in different ways. Some types of Bar Codes can display only numeric information. Other types can display both numeric and text information. Most Bar Code symbologies are single dimensional, or 1D. Other types are 2D, which means they can contain much more information, but also require special readers to be used.
Choosing the right symbology for your application therefore requires that you know what information you need to display as a Bar Code, the length of that information, and the size of the label that you will be printing the Bar Code on. |
